CEREC same-day restorations in Enfield, Southgate and North London

If you have had a dental crown in the past, you will know the process can be a little inconvenient – involving tooth preparation, dental impressions, a temporary crown and weeks of waiting for your restoration to be made in a dental lab. But with CEREC at Winchmore Hill Dental Practice, we can design, mill and fit porcelain crowns, onlays and veneers in a single appointment.

Now using Primescan

Available in 2022, this is the new evolution of CEREC. It provides more accurate scans and stays in step with developments in technology. With our experienced dentists and the best dental tech available, you know you’re in good hands!

Why choose CEREC?

A CEREC tooth restoration is not just convenient, it is also healthy. Many years ago, dentists had few options to repair decayed and damaged teeth other than amalgam, gold, and other metals. With CEREC, dentists can use strong, tooth-coloured ceramic materials that closely match the composition of your natural tooth – so there is less sensitivity to hot and cold foods, and less risk of your restoration cracking. And because the materials are chemically bonded to your tooth, your dentist can save as much healthy tooth tissue as possible while providing you with a dental restoration that actually strengthens your tooth.

CEREC FAQs

How does CEREC work?

CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics – or CEramic REConstruction. It is a system that combines state-of-the-art digital technology with a cutting-edge in-house milling machine. If you need a crown, onlay or veneer, your dentist can use CEREC 3D software to design it – this information is then sent to the milling machine, which accurately creates your restoration from porcelain. Meanwhile, the dentist can prepare your teeth by gently filing it, under local anaesthetic if necessary, into the best shape to accommodate the restoration. Your crown, veneer or onlay can then be secured in place.

What are the advantages of CEREC?

CEREC technology dramatically speeds up a traditionally lengthy process by bringing all the different elements in-house and reducing your treatment time to a single appointment. For the patient, that means fewer injections, no messy dental impressions, no temperamental temporary fittings – and less time out of your hectic schedule. Benefits include:

  • Restoration completed in a single visit
  • No unpleasant impressions
  • No need for temporary crowns
  • Metal-free restoration
  • Highly aesthetic long-lasting results

How do I take care of my CEREC restoration?

You will not be required to carry out any out-of-the-ordinary care for your CEREC restoration, however a strict oral hygiene routine is a must if you want to prolong the life of your new tooth.
